Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Interim Report incorporating SEA and HRA for Preferred Options Paper
Overview
A Sustainability Appraisal (SA) is being carried out alongside preparation of the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council's Local Development Plan. The SA process will assess our Plan against a set of sustainability objectives developed in consultation with stakeholders. It will help us to identify the relative environmental, social and economic impacts of our Local Development Plan decisions, to evaluate which of our choices are more sustainable and identify any possible mitigation if required.
At the Preferred Options Stage we have published a SA Interim Report incorporating Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and also an initial screening in relation to the important habitats within our Borough.
The purpose of this Sustainability Appraisal Interim Report is to:
- Document the appraisal of options and alternatives against a sustainability framework consisting of fourteen objectives, which has helped the Council to determine their preferred options
- Identify where there are significant effects of a preferred option and, where these are negative effects, identify how these could be addressed.
- Present any cumulative effects identified in the appraisal.
- Present any assumptions used in the appraisal, including assessing the significance of effects.
The SA Interim Report and all other documents are available on our webpage at
